Independent tests of our water-based lacquer show very low emissions of TVOC and formaldehyde – substances commonly found in furniture and interiors that can affect indoor air quality.
What you get:
For working environments where people spend long periods of time, choosing materials with low emissions into indoor air is an important part of the overall picture.
We spend many hours at work. In the EU, the average actual working week was 36.0 hours in 2024. In addition, people spend a very large proportion of their time indoors, often around 90% 1,2. Building materials, furniture and other interior fittings can emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde 3, which may cause both short- and long-term adverse health effects 4. That’s why low-emission materials especially important in environments where people spend extended periods of time 5.
Water-based lacquer is available as standard in any NCS colour for all products in the Space and CombiLine ranges, as well as Ridge and Konsolhyllor.
Independent tests show low measured emission levels for tested surfaces with water-based lacquer; see Table 1. The results for the tested samples are below the relevant requirement levels for emissions into the indoor environment.
Tested MDF: TVOC 46 µg/m³, formaldehyde < 5 µg/m³.
Tested MFC: TVOC 28 µg/m³, formaldehyde< 5 µg/m³.
